Drug Offender Education

Education

The Purpose of the Texas Drug Offender Education Program, as outlined in the Texas Transportation Code [TRC521.371 - 377] is to educate persons on the dangers of drug abuse.

Texas law requires the automatic suspension of the driver's license of any person convicted of a drug offense. In addition, this law requires offenders to attend an education program on the dangers of drug abuse approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services in order to have their licenses reinstated.

It is hoped that by providing a curriculum of basic knowledge, those convicted will be provided with the information necessary to make more informed decisions in the future.
